Our Story:

The journey of Colab Brewing is one of growth, innovation, and collaboration. Founded by three passionate brewers from three of the world’s great brewing nations — Germany, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom — Colab Brewing was built on a shared vision: to craft exceptional, great-tasting beer through precision, creativity, and technology. What began as a small brewery on the fringes of Riverhead and Kumeu has evolved into an extraordinary brewing business.

By late 2020, Colab Brewing relocated to Warkworth, transforming a simple shed on their property into a brewer’s paradise. As demand grew and production needs increased, the team realized it was time to upgrade their equipment and expand their capacity.

When Colab Brewing began evaluating suppliers for their new brewhouse, they were searching for more than just a manufacturer — they wanted a partner capable of delivering custom brewing solutions with consistent quality and technical support. After thorough research and recommendations from peers in the brewing industry, Colab identified Tiantai Equipment as a trusted and experienced supplier with a strong reputation for designing and manufacturing turnkey brewery systems.

From the first inquiry, Tiantai’s team demonstrated professionalism and responsiveness. Detailed technical discussions took place to ensure every specification met Colab’s unique brewing process — from brewhouse design and vessel sizing to piping layout and control systems.

Both teams maintained open communication throughout the process, using drawings, video calls, and technical documents to confirm every detail. Tiantai’s engineering team offered practical suggestions that enhanced system efficiency while keeping Colab’s creative brewing approach intact.This transparent and collaborative process built a strong foundation of trust between the two companies.

After months of design, fabrication, and testing, the customized Tiantai brewhouse was completed. Colab’s representatives conducted an on-site inspection to verify build quality and operational readiness before shipment. The equipment was then carefully packed and shipped to New Zealand, arriving safely at Colab’s Warkworth location.

The installation process went smoothly, with Tiantai providing technical support and guidance throughout. As Colab noted, “The new brewhouse was made to fit perfectly.” While the installation was completed successfully, connection and commissioning were still in progress — marking an exciting step forward for the brewery’s future operations.

With the new Tiantai system in place, Colab bid farewell to their original brewhouse — a trusted partner that helped launch their journey. Though difficult to part with, the team took comfort knowing it had found a new home and would continue to shine elsewhere.
