Compressed Air Supply System

Brewery compressed air system with oil-free compressors, air receiver, dryers and multi-stage filtration. Designed for pneumatic control, clean utility air and food-safe applications. Compressed air is a critical utility in modern breweries — powering pneumatic actuators, valve banks, packaging equipment and other automated systems. To protect product quality and prevent contamination, compressed air must be dry and free of oil and particulates. This system uses oil-free compressors with downstream dryers and rigorous filtration to supply high-quality air suitable for pneumatic use and certain indirect process applications.

Process Parameters

  • Working pressure: 6–8 bar (adjustable according to plant requirements)
  • Pressure at point of use: typically 4–7 bar
  • Pressure dew point (refrigerated dryer): approx. +3 °C
  • Filtration precision: 3 μm → 1 μm → 0.01 μm (depending on configuration)

Key Advantages

Oil-free air supply: Oil-free compressors eliminate the risk of oil contamination, reducing maintenance and protecting product quality.

Stable pressure output: Air receiver tank combined with intelligent control prevents pressure fluctuation during peak pneumatic demand.

Dry and clean air: Dryers and multi-stage filtration remove moisture, oil aerosols and solid particles, protecting pneumatic components and extending service life.

Energy efficiency: Variable frequency control adjusts compressor output based on real air consumption, reducing energy waste.

Detailed Configuration & Build Quality

Oil-Free Air Compressors: Two sets (lead + standby or staged operation). Rotary screw type with low vibration and stable output. Optional VFD for energy optimization.

Air Receiver Tank: ASME/CE certified pressure vessel with safety valve, pressure gauge and automatic condensate drain. Sized according to airflow demand to reduce compressor cycling.

Air Dryer: Standard refrigerated dryer for general brewery pneumatic systems. Optional desiccant dryer for low dew-point or instrument air applications.

Filtration System: Multi-stage filtration, including:

  • Pre-filter (3 μm)
  • Fine filter (1 μm)
  • High-efficiency coalescing filter (0.01 μm)
  • Optional activated carbon filter for oil vapor removal
  • Optional sterile filter for sensitive process points

Condensate Management: Automatic drains and oil-water separators ensure safe condensate discharge.

Piping & Valves: Industrial or stainless steel piping with sanitary connections in sensitive areas. High-quality isolation valves and pressure regulators are installed at key nodes.

Control System: Integrated compressor controller with lead/lag sequencing, pressure control and alarm monitoring. Optional PLC integration with the brewery automation system.

Technical specification

  • Supply pressure: 6–8 bar nominal (adjustable)
  • Receiver volume: Site-dependent (rule of thumb per compressor CFM)
  • Dryer type: Refrigerated (standard) / Desiccant (optional)
  • Dew point: +3~5 °C / āˆ’40 °C (optional)
  • Filtration: Multi-stage: 3 µm → 1 µm → 0.01 μm

Installation & Operational Notes

  • Install compressors in a well-ventilated equipment room to avoid overheating.
  • Ensure sufficient service clearance for maintenance access.
  • Regularly inspect filters and replace cartridges based on pressure drop indicators.
  • Drain condensate from receivers and dryer systems automatically to prevent corrosion.
  • Follow scheduled maintenance for compressors, dryers and control systems to maintain air quality and system reliability.
