What we should do to cooked mash when the electricity and steam is cut
Sometimes, there will be an sudden cut for electricity and steam. So, in order to reduce the not necessary loss, we should take following measures.
1.Electricity is cut. After the electricity is cut, we couldn’t continue to pump the mash by pump and stir wort by stirrer. If the break off situation keep long time, the mash will stop moving and stick to the internal wall, which will reduce the heating method.
Measurement: first, please turn down the steam valve to make the steam entering the jacket slower. Then, find a clear plank to stir the mash by manual.
Note: we should cut the electricity power supply first, in case the sudden supply of electricity will hurt us.
2.Steam is cut. After the steam is cut, we couldn’t heat the mash. In order to avoid starch maturing, we should take following emergency measures.
Measurement: If the mash temp is lower than 70℃, we could add the hot water to make the mash temp increase to 70-72℃ to make the mash liquefied. If the mash temp is 70-95℃, please keep the temp and wait the steam resupply. If the mash temp is higher than 95℃, poit is better to pump it to the mash tun to mix with the malt mash.
